Like much of Maryland, Cecil County could be a sizzling powder keg of politics and sentiments during the Civil War era. Battles raged and emotions ran high in a region where loyalties between North and South divided towns and families. In this talk, local author David Healey will share some of the more unusual Civil War stories unique to Cecil County and Maryland, from Lincoln’s secret cabinet member to the local newspaper column that landed the editor in prison at Fort McHenry to Delmarva’s “caveman of the Civil War.”
